For the past seven years, our community has supported our schools with voter-approved, local funding to support core academics, provide a well-rounded education and attract and retain quality teachers in our Pacifica schools. This critical source of local funding is set to expire unless renewed by local voters.
To protect this critical source of funding, the Pacifica School District Board of Education, by a vote of 5-0, adopted Resolution No. 2016-03-02-A calling an election for approval to place a measure on the June 7, 2016 ballot to renew the parcel tax. The Pacifica School District acknowledges that we gather on the unceded ancestral homelands of the Ramaytush (pronounced rah-my-toosh) Ohlone people. As guests, we humbly extend our gratitude to the Ramaytush Ohlone elders and community. We recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland, and we affirm their sovereign rights as First Peoples. As the original stewards of this land, the Ramaytush Ohlone understand the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of maintaining harmony with nature. Likewise, Pacifica School District commits to teaching our school community how to be responsible stewards of this land.
